What is a Postpartum Doula?
A Postpartum Doula:
* A postpartum doula is not and does not do the following:
- Provides teaching on numerous topic relevant to the fourth trimester
- Takes on the role of a nonjudgemental companion and support to new or experienced parents/families
- Assists with newborn care, family adjustment, meal preparation and light household tidying.
- Offers evidence-based information on infant feeding, emotional and physical recovery from birth, infant soothing and coping skills for new parents and makes appropriate referrals when necessary.
- Support after pregnancy loss.
* A postpartum doula is not and does not do the following:
- A baby nurse
- Give medical advice
- Housekeeper- heavy household cleaning
- Nanny
